CDS is an abbreviation for "Combined Defence Services" exam.The CDS exam is conducted twice a year usually in the month of February and November.Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the CDS exam for young unmarried male and female graduates who want to be a part of Indian Military Academy,Officers Training Academy, Indian Naval Academy and Indian Airforce Academy.

Graduates who aim to serve the nation by joining the Armed Forces needs to appear in the CDS exam by applying online at http://upsconline.nic.in.The candidates are selected on the basis of written exam which comprises of English,General Knowledge and Mathematics.The aspirants who clear the written exam are called for interview by Services Selection Board(SSB) for Intelligence and Personality test.The final selection is made on the basis of marks in the written exam and SSB.The candidates who qualify the minimum cut-off requirements and are medically fit are sent to the respective training academies.
